virginia cottage

This 1930’s Virginia cottage was in need of repair when home was purchased with a renovation/addition in mind.

This was a full service project beginning with planning the interior expansion, the home had small rooms an even smaller kitchen but great character and location. The newly renovated home was designed to have living spaces and bedrooms separated by a connecting kitchen that opened to the private courtyard. The home was designed for the outside and interior to blend and to feel that there was no separation, drawing the eye to the outside. New exterior finishes, along with the expansion to include casement windows, cement siding, and comprehensive landscaping. Materials, fixtures, and finishes were selected to create a timeless design for this cottage home. The floor plan/layout was designed to open up the home for entertaining, indoors and out. Ceilings were raised and uplighting added to visually enlarge the spaces and add interest through lighting. Natural oak floors were refinished and new added to match with the expansion. The end result: a relaxed cottage retreat.
