Amelia Bennett is exceptional! We met on a commercial project a number of years ago and has superior attention to detail and taste. She managed all aspects of the space planning, design and overall project management. She has since assisted with design on two homes with flawless results and execution! I couldn’t recommend her more highly for your residential design needs!

My wife and I had the pleasure of working with Amelia this past year. With Amelia’s background in architecture she could help us visualize alterations to our home that simply would have never occurred to us. She was able to understand exactly what our needs and wants were and helped us in getting the most for our budget. We would not hesitate to recommend Amelia to anyone needing some remodeling or interior design. She is a true professional that looks out for your bottom line!

Amelia was a pleasure to work with. We purchased a 35 year old beachhouse in Avon with the intention of preserving the old school character while still updating it. Amelia helped us identify what needed to be updated first and she not only added design value but she also smoothly scheduled and managed all the subs and worked within our budget and timeline which was challenging with the supply and labor issues this past year. This was our fist time working with a designer and working with Amelia was a creative and enjoyable experience. We look forward to working with her on Phase 2!

I knew when my husband and I purchased a vacation home on the Outer Banks that I would need to hire an independent interior designer to help with some major renovations. Amelia quickly learned what I wanted and managed all the various projects very skillfully. When I wasn't sure what I wanted, she made suggestions that fit well with the overall design. Amelia was able to work with all of the subcontractors in a timely and professional manner. All of the work has been beautiful. If there was something that she wasn't happy with, she didn't hesitate to have the subcontractor return or have an item returned. We are so pleased with the results! Every time I enter the home, I let out a huge sigh of thankfulness!

We recently bought an investment home which had not been updated since built. Amelia was fantastic helping us achieve our ambitious vision. Amelia’s knowledge allowed us to blend modern updates while maintaining the feel of a cozy beach cottage. Her contacts in the area enabled the project to be completed in short order. What sets Amelia apart from other designers is her dedication to get the job done right and the willingness to go above and beyond to ensure the highest quality finished product. I am eternally grateful for her attention to the small details which had a big impact.

My wife and I worked with Amelia Bennett this past winter/spring to update and refresh the outdated décor of our 2-bedroom Nags Head condo. And we’re so glad we did. Amelia was a real pleasure to work with – professional, reliable, and very friendly. She listened to what we wanted and came up with a number of excellent ideas to revitalize our place. Moreover, she hired first-rate contractors to paint as well as install new counters, carpets, etc., and she always followed-up to make sure the work was done right. Lastly, Amelia ensured the job stayed within our overall budget and that everything was completed in a timely fashion. As a result, I recommend her work without hesitation.

I knew the inside of my beach house needed to be updated but I didn’t fully appreciate how much until Amelia Bennett completely “transformed” all three levels of my house!

Amelia coordinated and managed it all – from flooring, electrical, lighting, plumbing, carpentry, painting, bedding, furniture/art selections, etc. She met tight deadlines, took care of unexpected problems and stayed within budget. She found skilled craftsmen and put a remarkable team together who got the work done! As a long distance homeowner, I never had to worry because Amelia took care of everything! Her attention to detail is incredible!

Most important, my house now has beautiful spaces. Amelia’s choice of colors are fresh, natural and reflect the beauty of the ocean. She chose affordable furnishings yet, when she pulls these all together, it looks like a million bucks! Amelia often used what was available in my house. She simply updated some of my furniture through paint. For example, what was a drab table is now a beautiful blue, whitewashed table with floating starfish! Everything in the house looks so fresh and clean! It’s a remarkable transformation. I would never have been able to do it without Amelia!!!

When the house was finished, new photos were posted on the vacation home website. As a result of Amelia changes, my house booked faster than it has for the past fifteen years!

The updates to the property turned out well and bookings for 2015 are 25% ahead of last years pace and it’s only January. More bookings are GOOD!

Last year we decided to update our Outer Banks oceanfront home. We contacted Amelia to help us plan. There would be several phases. We wanted beautiful and practical window treatments, a gorgeous dining room light fixture and lighting plans for the kitchen and dining room. We needed new updated paint colors in all of the rooms and new carpet. We now have all of those things thanks to her expertise! In addition, her thoughtful and artistic solutions worked beautifully everywhere including the kitchen and bath remodel. We love our new fixtures, countertops, and tile. Thank you, Amelia, for accommodating our busy schedules. We could not have achieved such excellent results without your good taste, talent and experience.

We were overwhelmed by the myriad of choices and decisions required to build our dream retirement home. Amelia's expertise has given us the confidence to enjoy the project. Amelia Bennett’s talents as an exceptional, creative, residential designer are unsurpassed. She came to my rescue, after I bought a home in the Outer Banks of NC. I was overwhelmed with furnishing and decorating it. She intuitively knew how to incorporate the natural beauty of the Outer Banks throughout the house, in subtle ways. Amelia Bennett of White Silo is always observing the world, always making connections between the natural and the built environments. In addition to observing, Amelia listens, picking up on seemingly small details in her conversations with clients. For example, when my husband and I wanted to paint the exterior of our home blue-green to complement the berries in our cedar trees, Amelia worked with us to find an appealing color, holding up shade after shade to those berries. Although we sampled numerous shades, we decided, in the end, to go with classic white-on-white, which is just lovely. Amelia didn’t abandon our notion, however, and found just the right shade of deep blue-green for our doors so that we could still suggest a connection between our home and our beautiful trees. When she heard our young daughter talking about how much she loves purple, Amelia put us in touch with an artist who could paint a whimsical purple fish to hang near our side door. In this way, she included our daughter in the re-modeling project, too. In addition to finding the right color scheme for the exterior, Amelia helped us choose our interior palette as we transformed our cottage into a rental property. We went with a neutral palette of coastal colors. This less-is-more approach created a soothing, open feel, and it made the rooms versatile in terms of furnishings. Amelia also attended to the transition from rooms to porches, making it seamless and inviting. Part of this feel occurs in the entrance to the great room, where we turned a coat closet into a nook with a bench. Amelia helped us select the paint colors for the bead board and the shelf, as well as the fabric and fabric color for the custom bench cushion. Amelia Bennett is not only a talented designer who is committed to her projects, she is also a pleasure to work with. Indeed, we hope to work with her again.

After purchasing a beach house in the Isle of Palms, SC we determined we needed help decorating and furnishing the house.   A neighbor recommended we talk to Amelia.  After speaking with Amelia and seeing some of her work online I knew she would be a great fit for us.  Based on our conversation she was quickly able to grasp our lifestyle and what we were trying to accomplish.   We decided on a coastal theme.  Once she started showing us various options we decided to have her help us with everything, including paint colors (inside and out), furnishings, kitchen and bathroom renovations, hardware, and lighting.

The design elements we decided on are simple and clean using natural colors and materials resulting in our perfect coastal retreat.  After the interior painting was done (and before any furniture arrived), when we walked into the house we immediately felt relaxed and happy.

We had a lot of fun making decisions and Amelia was good about providing us with various options without overwhelming us.  She wasn’t afraid to express her opinion but it focused on what she thought we wanted not just what she liked.  What was most reassuring about the process was that we had complete trust in her guidance and advice.  This gave us confidence in making tough decisions without a lot of second guessing or hesitation.  Ultimately, things came out even better than we pictured.

She has great contacts and a wealth of knowledge of where to shop and what products to use.
